We're a non-audition community choir with members from all corners of London, the UK and the globe.
We were founded to serve a need for a community choir for busy professionals who wanted to have reason to leave the office at a decent hour after work.
We maintained a strong online component throughout the pandemic, and we're now back to our face-to-face rehearsals and social activities with a vengeance. We still have the online aspect though, so if you're housebound for any reason, you can still join us. We do offer approximately 30% concessions for full-time students and selected others - you'll need to sign up for a taster and then email us directly about that.
LCV is a big London community choir where everyone fits right in. After a term of rehearsing, we sound great together.
We are a non-audition community choir for the capital, and we boast singers of all abilities and experience, from absolute beginners to confident show-offs.
It doesn't matter what voice you sing or what your singing experience is. There are no auditions, and you will be always be very welcome. Our choir directors will help you find your voice and blend right in. All we ask is that you're prepared to put in the effort to learn to hit the right notes. Occasionally we might gently offer you some guidance on how to sing with better technique, in the same way that a personal trainer might offer advice on exercise. We'll need you to be able to accept this advice without getting offended.
At London City Voices we have witnessed the growth of a large community of friends from all backgrounds and from all parts of London and the globe. We've seen firm friendships evolve. Many couples have met in the choir, become engaged, got married and the first LCV baby was born in lockdown in 2020.
We support our community with a wide range of social activities that help people get to know each other. Jobs have been sought, found and offered, volunteers recruited, advice gained and housemates secured. Plus-ones found for social events. Buddies gathered for theatre trips and gigs. It's amazing.
We organise a range of trips including a summer singing holiday in Greece, a sporty skiing holiday in spring, and a range of shorter weekend trips that bring the choir together. When we go away, we sometimes do organised concerts, other times it's more along the lines of ad hoc pop-up singing.
