We’re a very sociable bunch and love having lots of things going on. Choir members frequently organise ad hoc theatre and cinema trips, picnics and camping weekends. One of our members even runs a ukelele group.
More formal events include quizzes, networking evenings and wine tasting.
Quizzes
LCV has a fabulous group of quiz setters – the Inquizitors – who keep us all entertained with regular excellent quiz evenings. In teams of 8 we compete to win the coveted loo roll. Held at St Mary-at-Hill, the quizzes are open to all members. Bring your own drink and nibbles.
Networking
LCV has members from many walks of life. Networking events allow us to support each other with business, contacts and advice. You never know when you’re going to need a solicitor, financial advisor, chef, conveyancer or architect!
Wine tasting
We’re very lucky to have an expert sommelier in our midst. Alex Stevenson, founder of The Drink School and husband of one of our sopranos Krastina, has trained and advised many hundreds of people in the tasting of wine, beer and spirits. Alex runs a series of wine tastings for us.
The course starts with a basic introduction to wine tasting. We use three whites and three reds to explore how the sense of taste works, talking about grape varieties, flavour profiles and five components of the wines – sweetness, acidity, body, finish and tannins.
Further instalments of the course include:
Open to everyone, members and non-members alike, the course will be held both in person and virtually to allow as many as possible to join in.
